Aprima Welcomes Record Crowds to Dallas for the 2011 User Conference
Dallas, TX (August 8, 2011) — A record crowd of Aprima users filled the ballroom and meeting rooms at the Hilton Dallas Lincoln Center on August 5–7 for the 2011 Annual User Conference. Physicians, nurses, practice managers, and other practice staff came from all over the country to learn about Meaningful Use, and find out about all the latest developments with the Aprima 2011 Electronic Health Records (EHR), Practice Management (PM), and Revenue Cycle Management (RCM).
The conference kicked off an announcement that Aprima had acquired Health Care Strategies (HCS); a leading provider of RCM services to physician offices throughout the U.S. HCS has been instrumental in providing critical billing services to a number of Aprima clients over the past five years. Aprima’s RCM offering, featuring HCS’ service component, has demonstrated higher collections and improved financial performance for Aprima’s customers.
The announcement was followed by a keynote address from Thompson Reuters’ Chief Medical Officer Ray Fabius.
Then, in addition to attending a wide range of classes, participants took full advantage of their opportunities to meet one-on-one with the Aprima Support team, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jeff Hyman, and Chief Operating Officer Neil Simon as well as other Aprima staff and executives. Attendees were also able to meet with a wide range of vendors whose products and services provide valuable add-ons to their Aprima system.
With separate breakout sessions targeted at three unique audiences – physicians, other clinical support staff, and office managers – everyone at the User Conference found valuable information and suggestions for using Aprima more effectively. One of the most popular elements of the conference was the Support Lab. Dr. John Lange from Shasta Orthopaedics told Aprima CEO Michael Nissenbaum, “The Support Lab alone was worth the price of admission.” Many practices were able to get advice and demonstrations to help them solve difficulties large and small.
Susan Ruby, practice administrator for Pulmonary & Sleep Associates and Critical Care Associates of South Florida, wrote a glowing letter after the event, praising Aprima and her account team. The South Florida practice went live on Aprima in November 2010 and is now working so effectively that Susan has been offering site visits to demonstrate how they handle work flows. In addition, her managing partner, Dr. Ralph Palumbo, is sharing his pulmonary exam Common Problem Palette with other pulmonologists. Susan said, “Our group adamantly wants Aprima to become the #1 leader in the Practice Management & EHR software industry and will do whatever we can to help that dream come to fruition. We feel it is ‘our’ company also.”
The conference was not all business. Time was allocated for networking with peers and Aprima staff. And there was a reception for the Children’s Medical Center of Dallas, where attendees and the Aprima team gathered to make over 1,000 activity bags to be given by the hospital to patients and their families. According to Kyra Barnett, Development Manager, “Children’s Medical Center is grateful for community advocates such as Aprima that provide resources to support Children’s mission to make life better for children. Children’s is committed to serving the entire family, so the activity bags that the associates assembled can be used by patients and families as a welcome distraction, during their stay.”
Michael Nissenbaum, Aprima CEO, said many people stopped him in the hallways to praise the responsiveness and helpfulness of Aprima staff. Aprima users left the conference with more knowledge about the system, more friends in other practices, and in the Aprima family. Many of those attending appreciated everything they learned and said they will never miss a future User Conference.
