Around the proverbial Aprima water cooler we occasionally discuss the perception that only about 20% of our available functionality is used by the average practice. Of course, it’s only a “perception” and we realize that it is likely an exaggeration.

What is closer to the truth is that despite best intentions, few people take full advantage of all the features and functions of any software product they use. The Aprima EHR in particular is very robust, and today’s revenue cycle functions are complex, so it’s incredibly difficult to implement a new system AND understand and utilize all the facets. New releases can have a similar result in that practices are busy and don’t always have time to digest all the new features and functions being added. Many times, additional education will unlock capabilities that users of the software may not have known existed.

At Aprima, we understand the challenge of staying current on the latest enhancements and industry trends, while also trying to manage the day-to-day demands of a busy medical practice. Everyone does his or her best to stay on top of new system capabilities, evolving regulatory requirements and the latest billing guidelines, but often best efforts fall short.

One of the primary reasons we recommend that all Aprima clients take advantage of our annual User Conference is that we want customers to maximize their EHR, PM and RCM investment. Every year, customers tell us that the conference allows them to learn new functionality and connect face-to-face with the people that develop and support Aprima software and deliver RCM services. It also provides an excellent opportunity to network with other users, including those in the same specialty or geographic area, or in a similar-size practice. It’s amazing to discover the cool things you can learn from a random encounter while standing in the coffee line!

Most Aprima User Conference attendees would agree with Joseph Jenkins, MD of Tri-State Vein Center, who had this to say about last year’s meeting:

“In my view, it’s the best way to network with other Aprima users, company representatives and the support team. The conference provides the physician's office with the most current information concerning Meaningful Use, PQRS, ICD 10 and much more. It’s also a great way to learn how to better implement the software and optimize its effectiveness for one's particular practice.”

The value of the Aprima User Conference goes far beyond the basic curriculum – which is, of course, extensive. We offer in-depth breakout sessions to help users learn ways to better utilize their EHR and about new billing guidelines. We also bring in renowned industry experts to deliver keynote sessions on overall industry trends impacting medical practices. In addition, we provide opportunities to build relationships with peers and our employees – including the CEO, the support staff and implementation specialists. We believe that once you have spent time talking to someone in person, it’s much easier to pick up the phone and brainstorm about ways to make your practice more efficient, or to discuss the potential benefits of adding a particular feature.

This year Aprima is hosting its ninth annual User Conference August 17-19 at the Gaylord Resort Hotel and Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas, just a few miles from the DFW airport. We encourage all Aprima clients, including those who have been on the system for 10+ years or just recently signed up, to take advantage of this opportunity to maximize their Aprima investment and learn about new capabilities to increase practice efficiencies. We promise that even the most seasoned customers will learn something new, that less-experienced clients will have the chance to measure their progress mastering the system, and that those on the very beginning of their journey with Aprima will gain valuable insights as to what’s ahead and how to make the most of their implementation and new software partner. For the second year, we are also offering continuing medication education (CME) credits for attendees, including physicians, physician extenders, office managers, billers, coders, and other office personnel.
