Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Jeffrey S. Hyman joined Aprima is its Chief Medical Officer in 2006. As an early adopter of Aprima's electronic health record software starting in 2002, he contributes valuable first-hand insight that drives feature and usability improvements. He also acts as a facilitator on bi-monthly conference calls between the Aprima product development staff and a panel of customers so that the product roadmap reflects the needs of physicians from a wide range of specialties.

Dr. Hyman is passionate about the use of electronic health records and how EHRs can enhance the quality of medical care in the 21st century. He has written many articles on EHR implementation. He is an active participant in the dialogue on the value of the EHR and has participated at many healthcare-focused trade shows and at Aprima's user conferences.

Dr. Hyman received his medical degree in 1981 from SUNY (State University of New York), and went on to complete his residency training at Maimonides Medical Center in 1984. He is currently board certified in Internal Medicine.

In 1994, he established one of the first walk-in medical offices in Brooklyn, NY – The Treat and Release Center. It is there that he still practices medicine and is the managing physician of the office, where over 65 patients a day are treated with the help of two other physicians. It is at The Treat and Release Center where Dr. Hyman first started using Aprima (in 2002), and continues to do so today.

Dr. Hyman is also the Medical Director of the University Physicians Group (UPG), a 65-doctor primary care and multi-specialty medical group serving patients in Staten Island and Brooklyn, NY since January 2000. His functions there are both clinical and administrative. The Treat and Release Center is part of UPG.
